Things to do on Florida's Nature Coast

For fine Italian Cuisine, New York style, visit Enrico's Ristorante. Located on Hwy 41 South in Inverness, FL. Tell Rico Capt. Mike said "Hi".

Visit the Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park on US 19 between Halls River Rd. and Grover Cleveland Blvd. Take a leisurely boat ride down Pepper Creek and enter the Park afterwards. See animals native to Florida as well as Manatees in the fishbowl. A must see.

Baseball fans can visit the Ted Williams Museum on County Rd. 484.

Visit the Weeki Wachee Water Park 20 miles south of Homosassa on US 19 and State Rd. 60.

Try the Howard's Flea Market on US 19 two miles south of Homosassa Friday through Sunday. Look for the bargains that gift shops don't offer.

Ft. Island Trail Beach. Go to Ft. Island Trail Rd. and turn west off U.S. 19.Go to the end of the road. (About 10 miles) There is usually a lunch cart there with refreshments. New fishing pier also.

Horseback riding at Rymar Ranch (about 20 miles southeast of Homosassa). Phone for reservations and directions. 352-382-5400.

Visit Cedar Key. (The wife and my favorite.) A neat fishing village with a nautical flair and lots of gift shops and eateries. Rent a golf cart for a half or full day. Take US 19 north from Homosassa to US 24. Go west about 20 miles to the end. (About an hour and fifteen-minute ride.)

Visit the Manatee Toy Company. Numerous manatee items at their gift shop. Located on Citrus Avenue in Crystal River. Additionally there are several antique and gift shops within walking distance.

Try kayaking the Hall's River with Riversport Kayaks. 352-621-4972.

Visit the Crystal River Mall. Located about 1 mile north of Crystal River on US 19.

Live bands on the Homosassa River on Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon. K.C. Crump's, McRae's, and Charlie Brown's.

Capt Stu's Custom Airboat Tours on the Homosassa River, backwater tours, Gulf, and Blue Waters. 352-302-9207.

Check with the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce for various Festivals and Special events while you are here. http://www.citruscountychamber.com
